Summary

Provide leadership, vision, and direction for a comprehensive and aligned instrumental music program (grades 6 through 12) with a focus on band performance and music education. Support the development of student musicianship and performance excellence while collaborating with district staff to promote fine arts integration and achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and promote the band program to support high-quality student performance outcomes and musical growth at all grade levels.
  • Coordinate band-related instructional materials, resources, and logistical needs across grade levels, in alignment with the broader fine arts curriculum.
  • Plan and implement an effective instrumental music curriculum that meets state, district, and school standards and goals.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of instruments, equipment, uniforms, and other instructional materials to ensure program sustainability and excellence.
  • Oversee the budget and financial activities related to the band program, ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and efficient use of resources.
  • Prepare and maintain a performance and rehearsal calendar that includes concerts, festivals, community events, and athletic performances.
  • Organize and supervise all band-related events, including marching band, concert band, and pep band performances.
  • Evaluate and adjust program offerings based on student needs, participation trends, competition results, and regulatory requirements.
  • Research new music education methodologies, grant opportunities, and professional development to enhance the band program.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and community members to provide information and promote engagement in band activities.
  • Perform administrative duties including recruitment, training, and evaluation of band staff and student leaders.
  • Coordinate and supervise fundraising efforts to support band program initiatives and events.
  • Attend and direct band performances at athletic events and school functions in coordination with school administration.
  • Represent the band program at staff meetings, district-level fine arts committees, and other designated events.
