Norshield (an ASSA ABLOY Specialty Doors brand) is looking to add an Estimating Manager to our team. This is a brand-new role that has been created to lead and develop the team. This role will work onsite out of our Montgomery, Alabama manufacturing facility.

What would you do as our Estimating Manager?

Reporting into the General Manager, you will lead and develop the Estimating function within the Norshield organization. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our estimating team while ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and competitive project quotes for certified ballistic, attack, and blast resistant solutions.

You will also:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Estimators, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in all quoting processes.
  • Serve as a technical expert and resource for escalated estimates and complex projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing metrics such as quote volume, hit rate, turnaround time, and customer feedback.
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Customer Success teams to align estimating efforts with business goals and project timelines.
  • Review technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure constructability, compliance, and alignment with company capabilities.
  • Implement best practices in pricing strategy, project prioritization, and customer communication.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal processes, industry standards, and applicable building codes or labeling requirements.
  • Actively contributes to a culture of safety, collaboration, and customer-first service.
  • Other projects and assignments, as needed.
  • Participate in a safe and harmonious working environment.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, preferably within commercial construction, building materials, government contracting (doors, frames, and hardware highly preferred).
  • Prior experience with physical and force protection standards desired.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring a team.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, technical specifications, and building code requirements.
  • Proven experience in customer or contractor-facing roles with excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a track record of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and quoting tools; advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of production processes and product configurations is a plus.
  • DoD (Department of Defense), DoS (Department of State), or DHS (Department of Homeland Security) security clearance preferred.
