Job Description

The Expeditor is responsible for coordinating production schedules, managing material flow, and ensuring timely delivery of components and finished goods to meet internal and customer’s deadlines. Manage and provide tactical and day to day focus on key aspects of the purchasing/planning process in support of Sales, Engineering, Inventory, and Operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role also includes executing planning and tracking tasks within the company’s ERP system to ensure accurate job scheduling, inventory control, and order fulfillment visibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating production of the company’s products.
  • Coordinating with different departments to plan and adjust production needs.
  • Perform inventory management and demand management responsibilities to maximize order fill rate and inventory turns.
  • Establish purchasing requirements and stocking levels for low volume/high mix products.
  • Support Engineering Change notices (ECN’s) and ensure timely updates to planning data.
  • Support on-going quality initiatives.
  • Set-up and manage inventory programs i.e., Kanban, Breadman, Consignment, and Blanket POs with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow.
  • Provide accurate status reporting for incoming components at the production meetings.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as part of the company’s Continuous Improvement Programs.

Health & Safety:

  • Report and take required action regarding injuries, incidents, medical, and accidents required by policy.
  • Make the health, safety, protection of rights, and the development of all employees your primary responsibilities.
  • Effectively manage medical and first aid emergencies.
  • Follow all agency safety/medical related policies and procedures.
  • Follow fire evacuation and disaster procedures correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Report unsafe situations immediately; ensuring safety is imperative.
  • Ensure pertinent emergency telephone numbers are readily available.
  • Report symptoms and signs of communicable diseases immediately.
  • Consistently use universal precautions.
  • Report any incident that could potentially result in negative reactions from the community, law enforcement officers, and other agencies to the supervisor immediately.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICIATIONS, and TRAININGS

  • Multiple commodities buying/sourcing experience preferred.
  • Must have strong time management and multi-tasking skills, initiative and drive.
  • Preferred 1-3 years of relevant experience in production planning, material control.
  • BA/BS or Purchasing or Supply Chain Certification.
  • Experience in the medical device industry preferred.
  • Must have the ability to direct and work effectively within a team setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be open for possible travel of up to 20%.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

  • Microsoft: Office 365; SharePoint; Teams.
  • Experience in Epicor preferred.
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as tablets, smartphones, and other electronic equipment.
  • Ability to work with general office equipment.
  • Ability to work with and understand databases a must and the ability to learn technical skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Shall have essential physical skills; be able to walk, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight).
  • Shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must have enough endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
  • Will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.
  • Must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.
