ABOUT THE ROLE As the Returns Strategic Manager, you’ll support the Head of Planning in delivering MESHKI’s returns goals across product elevation, customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Working cross-functionally with Digital, Product, Finance, Planning and Garment Tech, you’ll use insight-led decision-making to drive initiatives that reduce return rates, optimize propositions by market, and improve our profitability per order. You’ll also be the key point of contact for short-term & long-term tactical responses to returns performance issues.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Support the design and delivery of initiatives to improve returns performance across products through actively being involved in the initial fabric selections by providing feedback around the returns, commerciality and return rates.
- Optimise our returns proposition (e.g. policy, window, shipping cost) by market to balance experience and margin across each market.
- Analyse return rates and profitability per order across regions to identify strategic opportunities.
- Collaborate with Product, Planning, and Garment Technicians to drive root-cause reductions in fit and quality-related returns.
- Benchmark competitors’ returns policies and logistics capabilities; recommend strategic adjustments accordingly.
- Collaborate with CX & Ecom on policy enforcement, escalation processes, and education strategies.
- Review grading and sizing issues based on customer feedback and returns data.
- Partner with Garment Technicians to recommend refinements to sizing methodology, block patterns, or product specifications.
- Define and oversee stock sorting processes for returned items (e.g. resellable, write-off, defective).
- Ensure accurate return disposition capture and reporting in WFX or similar systems.
- Collaborate with the QA team to track supplier performance trends and escalate repeat quality issues for resolution.
- Own weekly and monthly reporting of key returns metrics (return rate, refund turnaround, cost per return, etc.).
- Conduct ad hoc and deep-dive analyses on under/over-performing categories, SKUs, or regions.
- Ensure returns phasing aligns with trading calendars, seasonality, and product drops.
- Work with HOP on forecasting, budgeting, and identifying risks/opportunities in the return P&L.
- Partner with AI/Data teams (if available) to refine forecasting and tool development for returns prediction.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 3-6 years in eCommerce, retail operations, or reverse logistics, with a focus on returns or profit optimisation.
- Proven track record of using data to drive strategic and operational change.
- Commercial mindset with strong analytical skills—comfortable interpreting P&L impact and return-on-initiative.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience influencing senior decision-makers.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets, BI tools (Looker/Tableau), and ecommerce platforms (e.g. Shopify, Returnly, Loop).
- Experience working with or managing a 3PL and understanding of warehouse returns workflows.
- Fashion/apparel experience is a major plus, particularly in sizing, fit, grading, and quality feedback cycles.
