Job Description

Position: Senior Project Manager - Data Center construction

Location: Atlanta, GA (On-site presence required at least 70% of the time)

Salary Range: $160,000-$200,000 per year

Overview:

A leading data center development firm is seeking a Data Center Project Manager to oversee the build-out of an existing shell facility into a fully operational data center in Atlanta, Georgia . This role requires deep technical knowledge of data center infrastructure, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems, and commissioning processes. The ideal candidate will ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of the data center development project within an existing shell structure.
  • Review, validate, and manage scopes of work (SOWs) and pricing from specialized vendors.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of critical MEP systems.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain a strong on-site presence (minimum 70%) to effectively manage project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the facility meets long-term operational needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in data center project management.
  • In-depth understanding of data center design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with MEP systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to assess vendor SOWs and pricing for technical accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly during commissioning phases.
  • Proficient in project budgeting, scheduling, and resource coordination.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Based in the Atlanta area with availability to be on-site as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
  • Familiarity with commissioning procedures specific to data center environments.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as Uptime Institute and TIA.
  • Experience navigating local permitting processes in the Atlanta region
