Lead Support Driver

About the Role:
The Class A Lead Support Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods while providing leadership and support to other drivers. This position involves not only driving but also mentoring and training new drivers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The Lead Support Driver will be responsible for coordinating routes, managing schedules, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during transportation. The Lead Support Driver will be expected to travel to various locations and fill in for regular route collection drivers to cover vacation time, sick leave, or other business needs. While the company strives to keep drivers traveling within their region, occasionally the driver will need to travel outside the region to fill open routes. By fostering a collaborative environment, this role aims to enhance team performance and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Lead Support Driver contributes to the overall success of the logistics operation by ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining a positive company image.

All drivers must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records

Leadership skills are crucial as the Lead Support Driver will be responsible for mentoring and guiding less experienced drivers, fostering a culture of safety and teamwork. Excellent communication skills are necessary for effectively coordinating with dispatch and addressing any issues that may arise during transportation. Problem-solving skills will be utilized daily to troubleshoot unexpected challenges and maintain operational efficiency. Additionally, familiarity with technology, such as ELDs and route optimization tools, will enhance the driver's ability to manage logistics effectively.
